Speedy Hire has launched the hire industry’s first 'Diesel-Free Matrix'. The new tool is designed to support its PAS2080:2023 carbon management system, aimed at decarbonising construction projects.
The unveiling of the Diesel-Free Matrix will take place during the Speedy Hire Live Sustainability Summit on November 28, during which attendees will gain insights into the Diesel-Free Matrix and its potential to transform the industry’s approach to carbon management and decarbonisation.
The Diesel-Free Matrix is a component of Speedy's customer carbon management strategy, aligned with PAS2080:2023. It is designed to govern hire contracts at a project level, enabling customers to avoid, switch and improve operations. This allows them to make measurable progress in reducing diesel reliance and advancing decarbonisation across their sites.
PAS2080:2023 is the latest standard for managing carbon in infrastructure, which aims to deliver deep decarbonisation throughout the value chain. The Diesel-Free Matrix also introduces decision-making around innovative technologies, such as hydrogen power units, enabling customers to meet sustainability targets while benefiting from cutting-edge energy solutions.
Through the Diesel-Free Matrix, Speedy assesses customers’ projects using a comprehensive digital scorecard, covering criteria such as the adoption of cordless technology, integration of alternative fuels, and the use of renewable power sources. This structured approach helps guide customers in making sustainable choices and reducing their carbon footprint.
“Our Decade to Deliver strategy underscores Speedy Hire’s commitment to a sustainable future, and the launch of our Diesel-Free Matrix is a pivotal step toward achieving this vision," explained Sppedy Hire ESG Director Amelia Woodley. "By adopting PAS2080:2023 with third-party verification next year, we’re setting a new benchmark in the hire industry. This Matrix not only supports our customers in their sustainability journeys but also strengthens our ESG leadership, creating lasting, positive change across our sector.”
