After seeing a surge in demand for sustainable power solutions, Nixon Hire invested in the most cutting-edge, eco-friendly products, and created a new Renewable Power Division.
The new offshoot is headed up by Renewables Division Manager Nick Hibbard, who is supported by Head of Sales – Renewable Power, Simon Gibbs. Simon brings a wealth of sales and technical experience and joins from Hybrid Power Hire, having previously held senior sales roles at Speedy for over 16 years.
“My initial focus is to ensure that Nixon Hire build on the excellent reputation gained in the hire industry for the provision of these products, as well as ensure that we continually develop our product portfolio to provide the cleanest possible temporary power solutions for our clients,” he commented.
Meanwhile, Nixon Hire’s new ‘Solar Smart Site’ offering aims to lead the construction industry towards a more sustainable future, and enable customers to run clean, cost-efficient sites with significant fuel and cost savings.
The Solar Smart Site incorporates four of Nixon Hire’s renewable products – solar pods, solar smart frames, battery storage units and ‘Erica’ smart distribution boards. The solar smart frames enable customers to add solar power systems to any roof or spare space on site, while the smart distribution boards provide an insight into on-site power consumption and allow for remote monitoring and control.
The first Solar Smart Site was installed for a customer near Watford, which then successfully powered an eight-unit setup purely on solar and battery. Within a week, the Solar Smart Site had already paid for itself. Within three, the system had harvested solar energy equivalent to 319kW – enough to cover the site’s load requirements throughout the day and fully recharge the battery bank inside the solar pod before 1pm each day. This saved seven tonnes of carbon emissions and 2520 litres of fuel.
“Over more recent years, the demand is growing stronger and stronger for clean energy. Our ultimate goal at Nixon Hire is to offer our customers all the products they need to achieve a zero emissions site – which we’re delighted to say we are not far from achieving. Our new Renewable Power Division and Solar Smart Site offering are the next steps to allowing us to do just this,” added Renewables Division Manager, Nick Hibbard.
