Datatag has used its continuing sponsorship of the British Superbike Championship to  promote its 'Power Tool Forensic Marking System' — a multifarious new solution aimed at tackling the growing epidemic of tool theft across the UK.

Datatag’s longstanding partnership with the sport has provided a useful platform for raising awareness of forensic security marking across a broad audience - from professional teams in the paddock to fans and amateur riders at home, on and off the track. In 2025, the spotlight will be on a different kind of engine power. With tool theft reports running to over 25,000 last year costing tradespeople, businesses and individuals around £40million.

Datatag's new marking system is designed for portable hand held power tools. Using a combination of visible identification labels, warning labels, 'Datadots', and a unique chemical forensic DNA, the system permanently marks up to 48 power tools, batteries and accessories with an identity that is registered to the owner on Datatag’s secure national database - and it's accessible by UK police forces.

The 500 or so Datadots suppied with each system can be applied to wrenches, chisels, pliers and other smaller non-powered items, offering protection to an entire toolbox. Priced at £59.95, the new system offers an affordable, dependable and proven deterrent in the fight to save tradespeople's livelihoods. Better yet, all Datatag Systems are single payment security solutions with no subscriptions, annual fees or hidden charges.

“Tool theft is an ongoing issue that continues to affect people’s livelihoods,” said Datatag MD Kevin Howells. “By using the British Superbike Championship to raise awareness of our new forensic tool marking solution, we’re not only supporting a sport we’re passionate about - we’re also bringing attention to a real-world problem and offering a proven solution to help stop it.”

And BSB Series Director Stuart Higgs added: “Datatag has been an invaluable partner to the British Superbike Championship and their continued support, especially with a focus on community-impact issues like tool theft, aligns with our values and adds real benefit to the wider motorsport audience.”
