Cometh the turn of the month, and Makita has not one but two new products that should go rather well in the plant & tool hire sector.

The first is the compact MAC210Q air compressor, which is available in 110V and 240V options.

With a noise level of 60dB(A) and weighing 44lbs - a whisker under 20kg - the MAC210Q is well suited for indoor use and easy transportation. A low Amp draw reduces incidents of tripped breakers at start-up, while the lever-handle tank drain system makes for easy air tank release.

Other features include a 1HP induction motor, which provides two cubic feet per minute at 90 PSI with a maximum tank pressure of 135 PSI. Additionally, the compressor runs at a lower RPM, ensuring a longer lifespan for both the motor and pump, which are also protected by a roll-cage construction.

The second product is the DCU602 battery-powered wheelbarrow, which offers an increased maximum load capacity of up to 300kg on flat ground.

The DCU602 has two 18V LXT Li-Ion batteries in series, but up to four can be used if a longer runtime is required – up to 100 minutes, where the operator can switch to the second pair of batteries when the first pair is depleted.

The new machine is equipped with a bucket that can be operated electronically or manually. It has three forward speeds – 1.5, 3.5 and 5 km/h, and one reverse – and is equipped with electric and electromagnetic brakes on top of a hand lever-operated mechanical brake. A swivel lock fixes the direction of the rear tyres, and the DCU602 also features head and taillights, as well as a warning beeper and level gauge.

The DCU602 offers equivalent power to petrol-powered alternatives, albeit without the exhaust fumes and CO2 emissions. It is also silent running, with a long-life brushless motor and a battery protection circuit protecting against overloading, over-discharging and over-heating.
