Given the number of products launching at the Plantworx expo - and there were many indeed - it is surpising that so few companies exhibiting at the event announced their arrival. Top marks to Merlo, then, for bravely exblazoning two its machines on display with the word 'New'.
First up, the DM9 Dumper. As is increasingly commonplace, the new machine has a dual view cab - the powered 'HARDOX' steel skip is likewise able to swivel through 180 degrees.
Further facts and figures will undoubtedly be forthcoming, but the DM9 offers 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering, with three different modes to aid manoeuvrability. As the alphanumerical name suggests, the maximum load capacity is nine tonnes.
The DM9 benefits from hydrostatic transmission, providing a jolt-free drive and a highly respectable top speed of 40km/h. Fuel savings of up to 18% are apparently possible, but who, we wonder, is going to drive the machine with fuel economy in mind?
Moving on, and rather smaller in scale, the new Cingo M600TD-e hi-tip mini dumper. No prizes for guessing that the singular suffix highlights that the machine is battery enabled. Thus zero noise and zero emissions at site are a given.
Otherwise, the M600TD-e can accomodate a number of attachments, while it is able to carry up to 500kg, tipping to a height of 1472mm and having a track width of just 750mm. A full charge delivers up to three hours of performance. Merlo's signature green livery always gets an extra tick in our book, and interested parties might be able to see one, or both machines on stand H22 at the 2024 Executive Hire Show.
