Genquip-Groundhog has been given the accolade of a ‘CSR World Leader’, alongside an award of ‘Green Champion’ for their 'iRange' of low-emission site welfare units.

The company was presented with their trophies and certificates at the Houses of Parliament, in front of an audience from all over the globe.

As part of the CSR award entry, Genquip-Groundhog put forward their energy-saving Unisex SolarLoo, which is a combined male and female toilet system designed for use on construction sites. The unit is powered by a combination of solar and battery, therefore emits ultra-low emissions.

The CSR Excellence and Green Apple Awards are run by The Green Organisation - an international, non-profit, non-political environment group that began in 1994 to recognise, reward, and promote social responsibility best practice around the world. Every carbon footprint caused by winners and their guests is offset by the planting of trees in cooperation with Green Earth Appeal and the United Nations.

Genquip-Groundhog produces a wide range of environmentally weighted products used throughout the hire, event, rail, and construction markets. The company operates from a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in South Wales. Its production lines and offices are powered partially by recently installed solar panels. In addition, Genquip-Groundhog has engaged The Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures, part of the University of Sheffield, to draw up a carbon reduction plan, which will be fully implemented when completed.
