They must be working around the clock at Thwaites. Having recently finalised a 70 dumper order for Brandon, the company has now landed a substantial deal with WHC Hire Services.

WHC - formerly known as Worcester Hire Centre - will add 40 Thwaites dumpers to its fleet. In doing so, it will see its dumper asset base rise to 120 machines.

The new deal will include a mix of sizes, from 1-tonne Hi-Tips through to 3-tonne, 6-tonne Power Swivel and the 9-tonne machine. All will be distributed to WHC branches throughout Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.

The deal, which was supported by Thwaites distributor Lister Wilder, was agreed with WHC Managing Director James Clutterbuck, who spoke about the timing and size of the deal: “Demand through 2020 remained strong and utilisation levels became challenging in the autumn, when demand was outstripping supply - we actually had a waiting list for compact equipment. As we head into the Spring, demand is back to those Autumn levels. This has been largely driven by SME contractors seeing households investing in their property, thus driving demand for the 1 tonne Hi-Tip, in addition to the sustained, regional, utility market necessitating the need for further 6-tonne Power Swivels.

“At WHC we love to support British manufacturers, but we have to have a quality build. I won’t just buy because it’s British, my customers need reliability when they hire this machine and I need great residuals when it’s time to sell, that is the reason I came back to Thwaites”.
