Among the myriad construction delights at Bauma 2025, Thwaites will be introducing not one, but three brand new machines.

The Leamington Spa-based business will actually be exhibiting a selection of six machines. However, taking pride of place on its stand, will be the new 6-tonne ROPS+ Power Swivel, the 9-tonne ‘Rotator’ and an all-electric 2-tonne Hi-Swivel.

The 2-tonne electric dumper joins the 3-tonne electric dumper - a prototype of the latter as seen at previous Executive Hire Shows - to create a range of eco-alternative powered machines. It is driven by a 22kWh lithium-ion battery pack operating at 48V and completing a full eight-hour working day on  a single charge.

It has a similar unladen weight compared to the diesel/hydrostatic version, while the main battery pack and driveline components now sit low in the rear chassis, lowering the centre of gravity when compared to the hydrostatic drive machine. The on-board 3kW battery charger can charge the pack from 0-100% in 8hrs (three phase), or an optional fast charger can charge the machine from 20 to 80 % in less than 50 minutes.

The new 9-tonne ROTATOR provides operators with a rotating, 360-degree of the task at hand. The cab design includes a 180-degree rotating seat configuration, integrated cameras and adjustable mirrors . The cab is also equipped with seat presence switch logic, and limit switches ensure the seat is always securely engaged. Tilt sensors will alert the operator audibly and visually, when it is safe to tip, depending on the gradient. The machine has two, permanent fixed, green and amber flashing indicator beacons on both sides of the upper cab structure and roof respectively.

The ROTATOR is powered by a EU Stage V3.6L Deutz turbo engine delivering 55.4Kw of peak power and 405 Nm of torque, with a noise level below 101Db(A). Other highlights include a panoramic glazed cab, air conditioning, improved leg room, enhanced seat comfort and intuitive hydrostatic controls.

Thwaites has not yet supplied details of the new six-tonne dumper, presumably becuase it's built to the same standards as other machines in its estimable range. While it probably isn't as exciting as the new electric hi-swivel and ROTATOR, it's sure to be a substantial hit with hirers and contractors.
