Ritchie Bros. has strengthened its presence in the UK, with the opening of its first operational yard in Scotland.

Located just off Junction 5 of the M8 at Harthill - midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh - the new site represents a significant investment in the Scottish market. The new facility is designed to make it quicker and more convenient for customers across Scotland to access Ritchie Bros.' services, while also connecting them to the company's extensive international network of buyers.

The Scottish yard complements Ritchie Bros.' existing UK and Ireland operations, which include established facilities in Maltby, South Yorkshire, and Mullingar in Ireland.

For sellers, the Harthill facility reduces transport distances and associated costs, while providing greater flexibility when moving machinery to auction or sale. Buyers also benefit from a more accessible Scottish location where equipment can be viewed and purchased closer to home. Crucially, despite its local focus, equipment consigned through the new yard will continue to be marketed through Ritchie Bros.' established global sales network, giving vendors access to an international audience of potential buyers while enjoying the convenience of a nearby facility.

Chris Thomson, Scotland Territory Manager at Ritchie Bros., believes the new site marks an important milestone for the business.

"Our new Harthill yard makes it easier and quicker for customers across Scotland to sell equipment while still reaching our global network of buyers," he said. "It's an exciting step as we continue to grow our presence in the Scottish market."
