It's getting to the point where it's difficult to choose which item of new Makita equipment to feature, given that the company seemingly adds several new power tools to its expansive portfolio every month. It's new HR010GZ 40VMax rotary hammer looks like a great fit for hire, however...

The HR010GZ is a three-mode cordless hammer that provides the power and performance required for heavy-load overhead and horizontal drilling applications. Robust, compact and weighing just 2.8kg, the new machine performs to a concrete capacity of 20mm, steel capacity of 13mm and a wood capacity of 26mm.

The three modes of operation include rotation only, rotary hammer’and hammer only. The 2.1 joules of impact energy deliver rapid drill speeds, while constant speed control automatically adds power to the motor to maintain speed under load, to complete the most demanding jobs.

For added efficiency, the rotary hammer is equipped with Makita’s Auto-Start Wireless System tech, which uses Bluetooth for power-on and power-off communication between the tool and a compatible dust extractor. To wit, Makita already offers the DX16 dust extraction attachment as an optional extra. The new model is also available with two batteries and a charger (model HR010GD201), which includes the DX16 attachment,

“Makita continues to provide cordless solutions within the XGT system and the introduction of our new XGT SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer is the latest in our line up of powerful and portable rotary hammers,” said UK Marketing Manager Kevin Brannigan. “We continue to design all our products with the professional end user in mind. Despite its lightweight and compact design, this tool really packs a punch to perform robustly across a variety of applications and is an ideal companion for those working with concrete, steel and wood.”
