Belfast based KDM Hire has invested £1.3 million in a splendid new tool and equipment hire depot in the Castlereagh area south of the city.

The new tool and equipment hire outlet adds to KDM's existing four depots in Mallusk and Dublin, alongside a cabin hire yard and headquarters, both based in Cookstown County Tyrone. Looking like the paint hasn't yet dried, it is spacious, neatly laid out and well stocked with a large range of modern equipment to suit customers in the construction, industrial and DIY sectors.

The £1.3 Million investment is part of an ongoing £11 Million expansion strategy to maintain the KDM's place as one of the country’s leading hire companies. New product offerings are apparently in the pipeline, with some due to be launched in the coming weeks - watch this space for more further annoucements. Meantime, the company has also acquired a three-acre greenfield site in Ballycoolin industrial Estate, Blanchardstown, Dublin, which they hope to have operational later this year. These expansion plans will likely see staff numbers grow from 155 to over 180 during the coming year.

A spokesperson for the company said: “This is an exciting time for KDM hire, coming out of a tough year brought on by the pandemic. This new depot provides us with a platform to reach new customers while offering existing customers an improved local service when working in the East of the province

“We believe this state-of-the-art depot sets a new standard for tool & compact equipment hire in the UK. It is also a deviation from our existing operations which are all based on large hub-type facilities covering sites from two – six acres."
