The team at Shindaiwa UK have recently obtained Network Rail Approval for their popular Eco165-2 petrol welder generator.

The machines are destined to be used for ongoing track repair and maintenance throughout the UK, for both manual MMA and automated MIG welding processes. In order to achieve rail approval, the welder generators have undergone a number of special adaptations for Network Rail specification, which requires the fitment of a bespoke lifting frame, a weight reduction of over 10kg from the standard model and repainting of the machines in trackside-compliant yellow colour.

All modifications were carried out by the Shindaiwa’s team of in-house engineers. The versatility of the compact 165Amp generators also allows them to be used both singularly or in parallel, running to double the welding output of the sets to over 300Amps for more demanding applications.

“Our team has worked incredibly hard with Network Rail to produce a machine fully compliant with the very latest emissions, EMC and critical ergonomic requirements to ensure no compromise in the performance and reliability of the units," explained Shindaiwa UK Sales Director Tom Page. "The specially adapted lifting frame allows the machines to be transported easily and safely to remote trackside locations where safety critical on track welding maintenance is required. Securing the latest approval is testament to the performance and versatility provided by our product and team.”

Shindaiwa will now supply of a large number of welder generators required by Network Rail as they look to add to and replace existing machines throughout the UK Network. The bespoke rail version of the Eco165-2 machines will also be available to rental companies specialising in providing hire equipment for the rail Industry.
