FTH Hire Group is investing heavily in its plant and tool hire offering, with more than £2 million spent on new equipment during the third quarter of 2026.

The latest haul includes 38 excavators ranging from one to eight tonnes, alongside 20 hydraulic augers and 60 auger flights. Other additions include five 6m telehandlers, five one tonne skip loaders and four 8m Bumpa hoists. The company has also strengthened its landscaping equipment offering with five 6-inch tow-along chippers and two 8-inch models.

Safety equipment has not been overlooked either, with four rescue tripods and fall arrest blocks with recovery winches added to the inventory.

Meanwhile, FTH has continued investing in the non-mechanical equipment that remains essential to many contractors, including road plates, Acrow props, scaffold boards, Heras panels and Chapter 8 barriers.

And the investment programme shows no sign of slowing down. Five new Yanmar ViO50 5-tonne excavators have recently arrived at the company's Newport Hub, providing additional compact excavator capacity for customers undertaking groundworks, utilities and landscaping projects.

FTH describes the ViO50 as a compact, reliable machine well suited to a variety of construction applications, while emphasising the importance of maintaining a modern, readily available rental fleet.

The company serves customers across Wales through its depots in Pontypridd, Cardiff, Swansea, Cwmbran, Bridgend and Newport, supported by local teams and equipment delivery services.

With more than £2 million invested in just three months, FTH Hire Group is clearly demonstrating its commitment to fleet development, equipment availability and meeting the changing needs of its contractor customers.
