Atlas Copco has set science-based targets towards lowering the carbon emissions of its equipment. To wit, the B-Air battery-driven screw compressor earlier last year and now its hybrid energy storage units.

Combining high density lithium ion batteries with a generator backup as required, the new units feature a microgrid control system. Clever onboard computing prioritises wind, solar and renewable energy sources, and the equipment can be recharged in as little as an hour, providing up to 12 hours of performance and as much as 40,000 hours of service.
