Chippindale Hire & Sales - as profiled in our September 2022 edition - is celebrating a significant milestone in April – its 75th anniversary.

Founded in 1949 by Wilfred Chippindale, with £100 of his savings, the company has grown from a small family run business in Leeds, selling concrete and scaffolding, to become one of the UK's most significant construction equipment hire and sales companies.

Over 75 years, the company has built on its family values and customer-focused service, and has grown through the adoption of new technology: in 1972, it was one of the first UK companies to equip its truck fleet with radio phones, while a decade later it went electronic, installing computers throughout the company – which was almost unheard of in 1982.

Chippindale continues to invest in technology and innovation to improve its service, consolidating its position as a prominent dealer for Atlas Copco, Volvo, BOMAG, Stihl, Altrad Belle, Mecalac and Epiroc, with nine depots stretching across the north of the UK.

"There have been many changes to the industry and the company over the years, but the family service, values and ethos we were built on are still core to our business," says Dan Pearson, Chippindale's marketing manager.

"We will be celebrating our 75th year in style, and we have some exciting plans for the future in place as we start a new chapter in our history."

On that tantalising note, keep an eye out for further details in the May edition of Executive Hire News.
