The Bobcat L85 compact wheel loader has been announced as a category winner at the 2021 edition of the world-renowned iF Design Awards.

iF International Forum Design GmbH is the world’s oldest independent design organisation, based in Hannover in Germany. The L85 succeeded in an automobiles/vehicles subcategory, which was judged by a 98-member jury made up of independent experts from all over the world. More impressive, the machine attained its accolade among almost 10,000 entries submitted from 52 countries.

Now in its 67th year, the iF awards recognise design excellence in a number of main categories, including product, packaging, communication and service design, architecture and interior architecture as well as professional concept, user experience (UX) and user interface (UI).

The L85 succeeded in view of its innovative features, which were designed with less experienced operators in mind. To wit, the new machine has full glass doors on both sides of the cab, a rear-view camera and LED lights, all to enhance visibility. Meanwhile, machine controls are grouped together on the side console, with the joystick connected directly to the seat armrest to increase ease-of-use and comfort.

With the L85, Bobcat now has the largest loader portfolio of any manufacturer. The versatile 5091kg machine was introduced in October 2020 as part of the company's 'Next is Now' initiative, and was featured in a report by our very own plant aficionado, Nick Johnson - link here and walkaround video below.
