The Alliance Tool Hire Group has acquired the assets of Nationwide Hire Solutions.

Being a hire brokerage, Nationwide's assets presumably include its people, premises, clientele and software - as far as we know, it doesn't have any plant of its own, but we await further information about the full scope of the deal in due course. Meanwhile, the move saves 28 jobs at Nationwide, which will continue to trade under the Nationwide Hire Solutions name.

Nationwide Hire has been operating under challenging conditions for several years and generated a pre-tax loss of £1m for the year to September 2024. BDO has been appointed as the administrator, and they will be contacting all of the company's creditors.

Alliance says the acquisition will significantly increase its purchasing power with suppliers, supporting its continued efforts to build out its supply chain across the UK.
