Lincolnshire hirer ABBA Plant Hire has invested in a ten-strong fleet of JCB’s new hybrid drive articulated booms.
Supplied by TC Harrison JCB, the new machines are the first of JCB’s new diesel/electric hybrid drive A45EH models purchased in the UK. They join ABBA’s extensive powered access and construction equipment rental fleet – including four JCB Access scissor lifts - which operates on major contracts across the East Midlands. One of the first jobs for the new booms was by the stunning Lincoln Cathedral.
“The new JCB A45EH models mark a significant step forward. Being a hybrid boom, it gives dual utilisation, enabling indoor and outdoor operation, bringing great flexibility for hirers like ourselves and our customers," said ABBA Plant Hire Manager, Nick Howe.
“It is fantastic that JCB has successfully integrated access equipment into its already superb product range, and we hope it continues to develop new additions so we can expand our powered access offering with further JCB models.”
The A45EH uses a 14.8kW three-cylinder diesel engine and a 7.5kWa generator to power the machine’s eight 6V batteries. Maximum platform height is 13.84m, with a horizontal reach of up to 7.47m, providing an up and over clearance of 7.48m. The lift capacity is 300kg and the machine is capable of climbing up to 40% gradients.
ABBA Plant Hire has purchased JCB since its first machine, an 814 Power Slide in 1984. Part of the JMH Ltd Group, the company is the largest independent plant hirer in the East Midlands. Its fleet now comprises more than 300 JCB machines including JCB Loadall telescopic handlers, scissor lifts, backhoe loaders, micro, mini and midi excavators, X Series tracked excavators, skid steer loaders and Fastrac models.
