Makita has launched a range of multi-tool machines of the type commonly used by installers and fit-out specialists owing to their varied blade and accessory options, and for ease of operation in confined spaces. The blade oscillates by just 3.2 degrees (1.6 degrees either side of centre), enabling cuts to be made in situations where a full-stroke jigsaw or reciprocating saw could not operate. The TM3000C mains model, available in 110V and 240V, is powered by a 320watt motor, while the cordless 14.4V BTM40 and 18V BTM50 use Lithium-ion batteries that require only a 22 minute re-charge time. All come with dust extraction attachments for connection to vacuum units. Makita says the tools can be used for many diverse tasks, such as cutting a new light box cavity through plasterboard, or slicing the bottom off a doorframe architrave to allow flooring to fit accurately.
Software supplier MCS will be showcasing its new mobile CRM offering alongside its established hire management application, MCS-rm, at this year’s Vertikal Days lifting event, taking place at Haydock Park on 27 and 28 June. The company says that the MCS-rm user interface has been completely revamped and is now based on powerful Microsoft .NET technologies. Sales Director Nick Thomson adds, “Our cross-platform mobile CRM solution allows remote workers, from field-based sales staff to depot service personnel, to access real-time customer, sales and marketing information wherever they are, instantly, via a mobile device.” This can bring benefits such as the more accurate capture of data on the move, and a reduction in overheads and paperwork, as transactions can be recorded on the spot. Sales personnel can also retrieve live information, including details on a customer’s hire assets and real-time financial data. For more details visit www.mcs.co.uk

Having previewed the machine at the Executive Hire Show in February, Youngman Group has now launched its Ecolite LED mobile lighting tower, which joins the company’s existing mobile and stationary ceramic discharge lamp models. It has been introduced to meet growing interest in such lighting from the construction industry, owing to its reduced power consumption, low heat output and long life. The machine has an array of 400 individual LEDs mounted across four adjustable heads, providing a total light output of 91,800 lumens. Developed in partnership with US company, Green House Strategies, it consumes 0.65 litres of fuel per hour, giving 145 hours continuous use on a single tank of diesel, according to Youngman. The lamps are built to US military specifications. The LED panels incorporate 100 individual prismatic lenses, which are designed to significantly reduce glare.
Allmand lighting towers were previously distributed in the UK by ArcGen Hilta, which purchased the lighting tower manufacturer, SMC, in 2010. ArcGen Hilta’s Commercial Director, Phil Winnington, said the arrangement was “an amicable separation between the two companies, given the purchase of SMC. I would like to thank Allmand’s International Sales Manager, Ross Hilton, and his team for an excellent trading relationship over the years, and to thank customers for purchasing the products in the past. ArcGen Hilta will support these machines in the market place with parts and service.”

The 8026 CTS has a dedicated boom and dipper arm, offering greater digging capacity. The increase in efficiency allows the same engine family to be used as on the 8025 ZTS, with a similar torque output, but with a lower power rating, providing a 14% performance gain.
New from Marcrist International is the TDM1 tile drilling system, which can be supplied in several kit formats to offer a complete solution that includes a specially developed drill, a guide mechanism, wet or dry tile drills and masonry drills, packed in a carrying case. The 1100watt variable speed impact drill has a metal bodied Jacobs keyless chuck and is available as either 220V with RCD or 110V versions, and in PG850 (wet) or PG750X (dry) tile drilling derivatives. The drilling guidance mechanism has been designed to overcome limitations associated with suction cup guides, such as adhesion to mosaic and textured tiles, or the suction cups slipping. A central gas strut with a rubber foot sits on the tile for accurate operation. Marcrist claims that the product can give better performance than cordless equivalents, being able to work at the optimum speed for productivity and long drill life. A chart incorporated on the machine indicates the correct speed settings for each tile drill type and diameter. For more information visit www.marcrist.co.uk

Makita has introduced further additions to its professional dust extractor vacuum range to meet increasingly stringent regulations covering on-site and workshop applications. Two new L class approved models with 20 litre and 35 litre container volumes are available. Both are powered by a 1,100watt motor and are offered in 240 or 110V modes. The VC2010L and VC3511L are equipped with a washable PET filter that gives 3000cm² of filtration surface. The units generate a maximum airflow of 3.6m³ per minute and a maximum vacuum pressure of 18kPa. Both models have a power take-off point enabling them to be coupled to Makita power tools which, when operated, automatically start the dust extraction unit to protect the working environment. Further information can be obtained at www.makitauk.com
