Hilti diamond coring tool

Filed under: Whats New — EHN Team @ 5:00 pm

Hilti has launched the DD 30-W diamond coring tool which it describes as a faster, quieter and virtually vibration-free alternative to hammer drilling.

The manufacturer believes the tool is particularly suitable for applications where there is a need to make serial anchor holes in heavily reinforced concrete, especially in noise-sensitive environments.

The DD 30-W is said to be up to five times faster than conventional hammer drilling and, as it is impact-free, creates less vibration which also enables it to work on brittle materials like marble, tile and natural stone.

It incorporates a system called TopSpin that changes an eccentric rotation of the core bit into a backward-and-forward motion. This is claimed to minimise the contact force for fast drilling through rebar. The tool is capable of drilling to depths of up to 60cm, has a keyless chuck system makes and can accept core bits ranging from 8-35mm in diameter. For details visit www.hilti.co.uk
