The CPA has honoured the UK’s most promising young plant mechanic trainees at its Stars of the Future Awards 2019, held recently at the Heart of England Conference Centre near Coventry.
The Awards, held in association with headline sponsor A-Plant, are open to apprentices and trainees in the construction plant industry across the country. For the first time, employers were also invited to make nominations, in addition to colleges delivering apprentice training.
There were a total of 21 awards for both NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 plant mechanic apprentices nominated by colleges. Level 2 hire industry winners included Shane Lynton-Edwards of A-Plant (Reaseheath College), while amongst Level 3 winners were Dan Pickles of Charles Wilson Engineers (Askham Bryan College), Sophie King of CRH Plant (Bridgend College) and Michael Barton of Chippindale Plant (Myerscough College).
