Astley goes green

Filed under: Latest News — EHN Team @ 9:18 am

Astley Hire aims to create a greener planet by helping to plant more than 3,342 acres of new woodland.

The company, based in Leigh, is among the signatories to a scheme set up to help businesses offset the carbon emissions from their vehicles. Each time one of its drivers fill up with fuel, a percentage of what they pay goes towards planting trees in 57 new woodlands around the UK.

The EcoPoint scheme was established by fuel card provider Allstar, of which Astley Hire is a member, and is run in partnership with Forest Carbon, a developer of voluntary carbon woodland schemes certified under the Woodland Carbon Code.

The initiative is a step towards eventually becoming a carbo zero business, according to Astley Hire MD Stephen Dorricott, who is pictured, front row, fifth from left, with his brother Michael, Operational Director, and the rest of the team.
