One Stop Hire, which has its headquarters in Wrightington, near Chorley, has taken delivery of its first Plant & Go truck from KFS Special Vehicles. Having a broad spectrum of customers, ranging from DIY enthusiasts through to large regional contractors, One Stop needed a vehicle which could be used for delivering not only general hire equipment, but also items such as compact plant, fencing, and scaffold towers.
The truck is designed to provide a safe working height when loading and unloading, and it has a gross weight of 3500kg, meaning that anyone holding a standard car licence can drive the vehicle, says KFS. The manufacturer adds that doing away with the need to use a trailer means managers do not have to fit tachographs.
The floor height of the vehicle is only 530mm from the ground and aluminium ramps are supplied as standard for loading and unloading of equipment. Lashing rings are located in the bed, with rope tie-down points incorporated on the bulkhead and chassis underside to secure items.
Steve Hitchen, MD of One Stop Hire said, “We had been considering the KFS product for some time but were unsure about moving away from vehicles fitted with tail lifts. However, Ian Knight of KFS demonstrated the Plant & Go to us, and offered us contact details of existing users, all of whom had nothing but praise for the truck.” He adds that One Stop is considering buying more vehicles for its other depots, which are located at Bolton, Blackpool, Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, Widnes and Wigan.
