GAP has started the New Year in positive mood by establishing a new division, GAP Lifting Hire and Sales. Backed by an initial capital investment of over £2m, it has been launched nationally from six depots in Birmingham, Bradford, Bristol, London, Shotts and Warrington. Plans are in place to expand coverage to a total of 20 locations over the next two years.

Joint MD, Douglas Anderson, commented: “We always stated that, once national coverage was achieved in plant and tools, we would embark on specialist divisions. Often the time to move forward is when others are moving back, and I am confident that our Lifting Division will be a great success.”

Safetrak RFID chips have been fitted to equipment in the lifting fleet, allowing the company to monitor the condition of items and to track safety inspection procedures. GAP has taken a stand at next month’s Executive Hire Show to highlight its new operation, which is headed up by Division Manager, Paul Glover.
