Executives from specialist UK generator hire companies were amongst delegates who attended a presentation in Barcelona to preview, and give their feedback on, the new Rental Compact range from SDMO.
“We consulted widely with the hire industry before we began to develop this range,” said Clive Dix of Middlewich-based SDMO Energy. “We wanted to design an entirely new line-up of generators specifically for this market, not to merely adapt existing products.”
The new machines encompass a power band between 16 and 700kVA, utilising Leroy Somer alternators and John Deere, Mitsubishi, or Volvo engines. They incorporate a high-level control panel, separated from the alternator, and have the necessary instrumentation for management by USB connection. Designed for low noise levels, the units have long-run fuel tanks.
“We anticipate that these generators will be used in wide variety of situations, and we became aware that we needed to consider the overall look of the sets. Therefore, our designers produced a canopy that is not only compact and practical, but also pleasing to the eye, ensuring that the machines will not look out of place in any surroundings, whilst remaining highly durable in extreme weather conditions.”
One hirer who was impressed with the new generators was Kevin Hickey from Power Command Ltd of Rotherham, who confirmed an order for several 100kVA sets. SDMO Energy will officially launch the Rental Compact range on its stand at the Executive Hire Show in February.
