GenQuip has upgraded its self-contained and environmentally friendly Roadhog mobile welfare unit, which is designed to enable site operators to comply with regulations 20 to 25 in the Health and Safety at Work Act, covering the necessary welfare facilities for up to six persons.

The Roadhog is driven to site and made instantly ready for use. Power comes from an integral 12V electrical system and the vehicle includes a fully flushing WC with an isolated effluent tank. On-board washing and microwave cooking facilities are provided and the unit is fitted with energy saving LED lighting, a secure heating system and a fresh water storage tank.
The new version has the ability to quickly remove the site welfare pod from the chassis base. GenQuip says that, while the pod has an average ten-year lifespan, many vehicle leases are taken on a three or four-year basis. An owner can, therefore, take away the Roadhog container, thus allowing the chassis to be sold on as a separate item. When the owner agrees another leasing contract, the welfare pod can be secured to the new chassis by GenQuip engineers.
The new Roadhog has recently travelled the length and breadth of the country, providing live demonstrations to hire and construction organisations, including Access Hire Nationwide, Wernick Hire, Balfour Beatty Utilities and Balfour Beatty Plant & Fleet Services.
