Executive Report : More to Show, more to see

An exciting feature of next February's Executive Hire Show will be the number of loyal Show exhibitors that have significantly expanded the size of their stands.

Our current Top Ten exhibitors that have taken larger stands at the Show comprises Ammann, Arc-Gen Hilta, Avant Tecno, Belle (see November issue), Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power, Euro Towers, R2 Access Platforms, Red Band UK, and Stihl, together with its distributor, Seddons.

Now with a 50m2 stand, Roger Verallo, MD of Euro Towers argues, “we are more confident about 2010 than we were as we entered 2009. Our order book is growing and we believe this will continue into next year. As a result, we are in a positive mood as the Show approaches. We did well at the last Show – attracting a number of new independent hire customers who bought our products for the first time.

“We need a bigger stand at next February’s Show in order to exhibit a fuller range of products, including an exciting new product that will surprise many of our existing aluminium tower customers. In my view, all manufacturers should show solidarity with the Show that supports the hire industry.”

Andy Cairns, MD of Red Band UK, was one of the original supporters of the Executive Hire Show and has exhibited at each Show since. "Having initially booked our stand at the 2009 Executive Hire Show, we began to question our participation given the changing economic climate and, after due consideration, we cancelled our stand. Late last year, we reviewed that decision following our alliance with Power Tower and our need to promote this new product to the hire industry.

“We confidently believed at the time that our participation at the Executive Hire Show would be our best route to market and the foundation from which to launch the Power Tower and new Power Tower Nano low-level access platforms. Looking back, it was, without hesitation, the best money we've ever spent as a business. We sold two machines within 30 minutes of the Show opening and have taken a steady stream of orders throughout the year as a direct result of our participation of the Show, all from a small, innocuous stand in the corner of the hall that we booked at the last minute.

“We had a tremendous Show and it has given us the confidence to re-book a significantly larger stand of 100m2 at the front of the hall for next February, where we intend to give full justice to the Power Tower range and showcase our own Red Band products, as well as ICS Blount diamond chain saws and Kanga compact skid steer loaders. Market confidence is definitely increasing and we are looking forward to a great Show.”

Seddons (Plant & Engineers) is another exhibitor that will do something different at the 2010 Show, rather than simply replicate what it has done in previous years. With the company re-locating to a large island site on the central aisle, Sales & Marketing Director Phil Winnington considers “we are demonstrating our commitment to, and mutual enthusiasm for, the Show by working in partnership with our supplier Stihl. Whilst each of us will retain our independence, we are collaborating on stand design and visitors will have access between the two stands.

“On this stand, we will be better able to showcase Seddons’ partnerships with other suppliers like Honda Power Equipment, Honda Engines, Winget, Taskman, MBW and Norton Clipper. At the Show, we are creating a hire shop, complete with workshops, to demonstrate the depth and breadth of our supply capabilities.”

Arc-Gen Hilta MD Mark Hodgkins adopts a more economic argument for his company’s larger stand, stating, “we are making a bigger effort on a larger stand in February because now is the time to invest and get our message across about our products and services. We will also be showing our extended product range, including the Weldmaker 200 XLS, our latest welder that addresses the environmental issues that we all face. Our Addco mobile message boards will also be shown, together with an exciting new welder product.” •
