Higher Concept Software has announced several new technological features that integrate with its Syrinx system, which are designed to help hirers improve efficiency, save time and money, and offer excellent customer service.
Electronic Storage and Delivery scanner technology means that delivery and collection notes, purchase orders and invoices, breakdown notes and, even, manual dockets can be scanned in and retrieved later on demand. Sales invoices can also be delivered electronically.
SMS Delivery enables SMS text messages to be sent directly to customers, informing them of order progress and expected delivery times.
Telephone Integration allows users to see who is calling and to instantly display the customer’s account details and hire history. Telephone numbers can also be dialled from Syrinx with a single mouse click. Syrinx WS Web Based Customer Access can be linked from a hire company’s own web site to provide a customer log-in site, enabling customers to download copy invoices, view equipment on hire, and check which items are due for servicing. Syrinx PDA, incorporating integration with PDA technology, enables workshop tasks, deliveries and collections to be managed remotely. Iris offers flexibility
The Hiremate product family from Iris Software consists of Elan and Enterprise. Each is designed to meet the needs of different size organizations, whilst offering a flexible upgrade path. The core systems include the ability to perform everyday tasks such as asset management, customer maintenance, contract maintenance and invoicing. Additional modules include workshop, test certificates, advanced bookings, purchase order processing and automatic alerts.
Recent developments include business alerts to trigger automatic e-mails when business conditions are broken or certain criteria not met; route planning; and digital image capture. Standard and customised reports can also be produced.

inspHire’s simple solutions
Amongst other characteristics, inspHire believes that
its software offers a particularly simple month-end procedure. Hirers can produce invoices either on a contract-by-contract basis or in a batch at the end of the week or month. inspHire will recognise any outstanding charges waiting to be invoiced and generate them quickly, and invoices can be amended at any time before posting through to an accounts software package.
The system has a full reporting suite, ranging from operational and business analysis, to financial and customer reports. Examples include live site reports indicating equipment on hire and its location, utilisation, and return on investment, and all can be exported into Excel and Lotus, in several formats, such as PDF.
inspHire also offers dynamic reporting through Smart Views, enabling hirers to interact with the reports and allowing customers to access hire contracts, purchase orders or stock information. Smart Views is designed to be simple to set up and allows user-defined reports to be generated and explored.
inspHire includes a CRM tool, and recently added features are integration with Microsoft Outlook and remote synchronisation for field operatives. The software can also be used with digital pen technology, whereby a pen with an integral camera captures signatures written on specially coated paper. By ticking a box, data is sent to head office via a mobile phone, or it can be downloaded later to a PC.

On alert with MCS
MCS-rm now includes a Today alert screen highlighting current activities, ranging from items due for delivery and collection, the status of orders from suppliers and the progress of workshop bookings. The screen also allows the hire desk to quickly launch an on-hire or off-hire using a product code.
A Report Writer function allows hirers to summarise and understand key business information, enabling them to write their own management reports to complement more than 50 standard reports in the program. MCS-rm also incorporates a comprehensive CRM system, as well as a customer web portal capability, enabling customers to browse an on-line product catalogue, order on-line and view contract information at any time.
The Transport Manager function facilitates planning of delivery and collection routes, while the Availability Planner provides a colour-coded visual guide so that hirers can plan hire and stock utilisation by group or sub-group, company or depot. Satellite Tracking enables a hire company’s tracking software to integrate with MCS-rm, allowing users to view real-time location maps, hour meter readings on equipment and other data. Similar links can be provided on the customer web portal.

New Orion Sirius Pro module
Orion’s Sirius Pro enables users to track hire activities and inventories. As well as offering standard features for day-to-day tasks, a new Distribution module has been introduced, which integrates customers’ special purchase orders and hire reservations with supplier purchases and sub-hires, as well as providing inter-branch transfer capabilities, to enable hirers to fulfil customer needs from different equipment sources.
New technology in the form of an electronic signature pad eliminates paper contracts, archiving the signed documents electronically, and sending copies by fax or email with a click of the mouse. Remote access can also be provided for field personnel.

Hire or buy options from TSS
all Hire from TS Solutions (TSS) is a Windows based hire management software package designed for any size of hire company, with a user-configurable database allowing customers to include key information relevant to their particular business. It provides information such as stock availability, contract information, client history, and generates documentation ranging from quotations and invoices, to loading lists and delivery schedules. It also produces management reports and analyses. Echo, a CRM tool, is supplied with the software.
The main system can be linked to an external accounts package, such as Sage, or to Final Account, a TSS integrated program. The software itself is available for hire or purchase, enabling customers to rent initially and buy at a later date.
