Alitraks from Bat-Trac
The recently developed Alitrak range of small walk-behind electric barrows and carriers from Italy is now available in the UK and Ireland from distributor Bat-Trac of Cheltenham. The 2WD machines are powered by fully sealed gel batteries, which provide sufficient power for up to eight hours operation on one charge. A portable charger is used for overnight recharging from a 240V socket.
The D-Trak 300 is basically an electrically powered wheelbarrow with a manual-tip dumper style skip, which can carry 400kg on level ground and 300kg on slopes up to 20%. Measuring 775mm wide, the machine can be driven through standard doorways. Bat-Trac is also promoting the 400kg maximum capacity, front wheel drive D-Trak 300L model which has two non-powered, free swivelling castor wheels at the back. Of similar width, it can be supplied with a flat bed body incorporating slide-out front and side panels to facilitate the handling of bulkier and longer loads.

Muck-truck goes electric
New from Muck-truck is the e-truck, a battery powered version of its pedestrian dumper. Its four 12V batteries give a running time of approximately 3.5 hours, and there is provision for two extra batteries to be added to increase its performance.
The 4WD machine produces no emissions and very low noise levels, making it suitable for use indoors and in areas with restricted ventilation. The e-truck accepts all the attachments that can be fitted to the existing petrol engined Muck-truck and Max Dumper models, including a flat bed, skip extensions, ball hitch, snowplough and a vacuum attachment.

Thwaites to launch Micro machine
Thwaites will launch its Micro 300 pedestrian controlled dumper at the Executive Hire Show in February. Powered by a Honda air-cooled commercial petrol engine, it has four forward speeds plus reverse, and being 700mm wide the machine can go through a standard doorway.
The equal sized wheels are fully interchangeable and 2WD or 4WD wheel drive can be selected via a lever-operated adjustment wheel. An automatic failsafe parking brake is incorporated, together with hand controls for direction, brake release, clutch, skip tip and a thumb operated throttle. A remote fuel tank facilitates on-site refuelling. Several attachments and options will be available, including a flat platform, tow bar, flotation wheels, dual wheels, and extended skip sides

Quintet from NC Engineering
The range of 4WD site dumpers from NC Engineering (Hamiltonsbawn) Ltd includes five models, comprising the high tip HT1.0 and HT1.5, the swivel tip SW6 and SW9, and the forward tip ST10. Numbers denote carrying capacity in tonnes.
The HT1.0 and HT1.5 are aimed particularly at the hire market. Measuring only 1117mm wide (or 998mm wide with optional narrower tyres), the former has hydrostatic transmission and a walk through floor for easy operator access. Power comes from a Kubota diesel engine, and a folding ROPS bar is standard. The larger dumpers are powered by JCB Dieselmax engines, and the 9 and 10 tonne machines have an electronic ‘drive by wire’ throttle system.

Seddons offers cost-effectiveness
The TD500HL from Seddons is designed to offer a combination of high-tip capability, narrow width, reliability and affordability. The company says that, as it is based on the proven Honda Tracked Power Carrier and has a Honda engine, the machine is cost-effective to maintain with excellent spares availability. Hydrostatic drive gives smooth operation and the rubber tracks provide good traction and minimal ground disturbance. Measuring only 680mm wide, the dumper can fit through a standard doorway.
The discharge height of up to 1220mm enables the TD500HL to tip its 500kg payload over the side of most builders’ skips, over garden walls and fences and onto other raised working levels. Seddons reports that many hire companies have achieved revenues exceeding initial purchase price within 12 months.

Kubota launches new tracked dumpers
Kubota Construction Equipment has introduced a new range of compact tracked dumpers with diesel engines. The 34hp KC250H and KC250HR models weigh 2100kg and 2350kg respectively, and differ in that the latter has a rotating skip. Both have a maximum load capacity of 2500kg and incorporate hydrostatic transmission, offering a high speed (up to 11km/hour) for even surfaces and a low speed (up to 6km/hour) for rougher terrain.
Also available are the 15hp KC110H and KC110HR, which weigh in at 965kg and have a maximum load capacity of 1000kg. The latter has a rotating skip, and both machines have a single speed hydrostatic transmission with a maximum speed of 5.4km/hour in forward and reverse.
