Report:
Temporary
Power
GenSet
line-up
grows
The
generator
specialist
has
just
launched
new
ranges
aimed
at
all
hirers,
not
only
those
specialising
in
temporary
power.
GenSets
typical
customers
to
date
have
included
major
national
hire
groups
and
power
generation
equipment
hire
specialists
seeking
generators
with
the
capacity
to
provide
substantial
power
for
larger
construction
sites,
concerts
and
other
outdoor
events.
Now,
however,
the
company
is
increasing
its
focus
on
equipment
with
lower
power
outputs
for
markets
not
requiring
such
sophistication,
with
new
ranges
targeted
at
all
hirers,
not
just
those
specialising
in
temporary
power
equipment.
Our
existing
HireMan
range,
for
example,
includes
13
models
from
13-500kVA
and
is
ideal
for
the
top
end
of
the
market,
contends
Power
Generation
Product
Champion,
John
Parker.
Having
particularly
low
levels
of
noise
and
emissions,
and
offering
extended
run
times,
they
are
frequently
used
in
the
demanding
film,
telecommunications
and
events
industries,
as
well
as
construction.
However,
not
everyone
needs
such
a
high-specification
product
and
our
new
ranges
address
this
requirement.
GenSet
says
its
ability
to
serve
this
market
segment
has
been
enhanced
following
the
acquisition
last
year
of
its
Italian
manufacturing
partner
by
Mase
Generators
S.p.a,
which
claims
to
be
among
the
top
ten
largest
manufacturers
of
its
kind
and
has
the
necessary
production
capacity.
The
new
HirePro
range
offers
outputs
from
30-110kVA.
Perkins
diesel
engines
are
used
throughout
the
six-model
line-up,
which
are
available
in
single
and
three-phase
outputs.
The
machines
incorporate
an
automatic
engine
protection
shutdown
system,
with
warning
lights
to
indicate
battery
charge
failure,
high
coolant
temperature,
low
fuel
level,
low
oil
pressure
and
engine
overspeed.
The
new
GenPower
line-up
comprises
eight
models
with
outputs
from
22-175kVA,
and
are
fitted
with
Deutz
diesel
engines
coupled
to
electronically
controlled
alternators.
They
can
be
provided
with
an
automatic
mains
failure
(AMF)
panel
or
a
mains
transfer
switch,
and
are
available
with
a
fitted
acoustic
canopy
or
left
open
for
individual
housing.
Both
these
new
ranges
can
be
specified
with
various
options,
including
road-tow
trailers
and
additional
bunded
fuel
tanks.
The
machines
can
also
be
fitted
with
oil
bypass
filters
which,
as
well
as
dealing
with
contaminants,
remove
by
evaporation
any
fuel
and
water
that
may
be
present.
The
cleaned
oil
is
then
returned
to
the
sump.
The
system
is
said
to
reduce
engine
wear
and
to
give
cooler
running,
extending
operational
life.
GenSet
believes
the
HirePro
and
GenPower
ranges
will
appeal
to
hirers
seeking
temporary
power
generation
equipment
suitable
for
many
markets.
Demand
for
products
like
these
can
only
increase,
contends
Chief
Executive
Jeff
Davies,
and
we
expect
the
generators
in
the
30-50kVA
segment
to
prove
particularly
popular.
With
the
greater
demands
being
placed
on
the
National
Grid
and
the
frequent
need
to
have
reliable
electricity
in
locations
far
from
a
convenient
mains
connection,
this
will
continue
to
be
a
strong
market.
GenSet
has
opened
a
dedicated
Technical
Support
and
Training
Centre
on
a
30,000ft2
site
at
the
companys
Port
Talbot
headquarters.
It
houses
a
call
centre
that
handles
customer
enquiries
regarding
maintenance,
repairs
and
spares.
The
facility
also
includes
a
2,000ft2
service
centre
staffed
by
ten
fully
trained
engineers.
GenSet
guarantees
that
a
service
request
will
be
answered
within
four
hours
with
confirmation
when
a
field
engineer
will
arrive.
The
training
facility
offers
a
range
of
modules
on
product
related
subjects,
as
well
as
bespoke
courses
for
key
clients.
The
workshop
is
fitted
out
with
modern
testing
equipment
and
all
service
and
repair
work
is
completed
in
accordance
with
appropriate
environmental
guidelines
on
disposal
of
waste
materials.
Indeed,
GenSet
aims
to
be
recycling
all
its
waste
material
by
2008,
with
nothing
being
sent
to
landfill
sites.
