Exhibitor Profile: Diamondmasters

Diamond developments

Diamondmasters is expanding its operation by offering a wider range of machinery for cutting, drilling and surface preparation, suitable for hire.

Known primarily for its diamond consumables, Diamondmasters will demonstrate that it can offer hirers a considerably wider range of products, including new ranges of specialist machinery, when it exhibits at the Executive Hire Show this month. “The new lines are logical additions, given our expertise in diamond cutting and drilling technology,” contends Managing Director Steve McKenzie, “and we plan to steadily increase the range we offer.

“Obviously, blades still represent a key product line for us. We have streamlined our range to reflect market requirements. In recent years, there has been increased demand from hirers and users for blades that are versatile enough to cut a very broad range of materials, allowing them to stock fewer different types. Our most popular versions are now our general purpose blades, such as our recently introduced Piranha range, that give great versatility in cutting performance. They are made to our own specification in the Far East, and we have a British agent based out there to ensure quality standards are maintained.”

Other blade developments include a forthcoming range designed for faster cutting, which are said to potentially reduce HAV as a result. A feature of the product is the even distribution of diamond within the base material used in the segments, increasing cutting performance. Also in the pipeline is Diamondmasters’ DMFS15 blade, replacing the DMFS10. This will feature a ‘turbo’ segment design for faster cutting, with a 15mm segment depth for longer life.

The Holmes Chapel-based company first became interested in specialist cutting and drilling equipment four years ago, when it became a distributor for Longyear. In 2005 certain Adamas products were added to the portfolio. “We have been evaluating the machines that are most appropriate for the hire market,” states Steve McKenzie, “such as the Adamas VZ4 petrol floor saw, which we will launch at the Executive Hire Show. It can accept a 450mm blade, has a well protected 13hp Honda engine and incorporates a cyclonic air filter to enhance motor protection.

“We will also be displaying specialist Adamas drilling rigs for particularly challenging tasks. These include models like the B15P that can be used for drilling upside down into ceilings, and the B32 360° rig that facilitates operations such as stitch drilling into walls. We see the Adamas range becoming a well-known specialist brand for us that will be increasingly recognised by hirers.”

Also new will be a selection of drill motors under the Core Power Tools name, which is another brand of Adamas. “These are now available in 110V and we see them as posing a real challenge to other established suppliers in the market place. We will initially be offering two models that between them, we believe, will meet 90% of hirers’ requirements. The CX14-D1 is a compact and lightweight machine suitable for dry drilling in brick and block work, and its dimensions make it easy for electricians and other professionals to use. The second model, the CX20-S3, is a larger, heavy-duty three-speed tool with a 2000watt motor, suitable for wet drilling.”

Diamondmasters will unveil innovative floor grinding equipment from the Swedish manufacturer Scanmaskin, for which the company is sole UK and Eire distributor. The Scan Combiflex 45 is designed for grinding materials such as concrete, stone, carpet glue and paint, and folds to fit into a car boot. The 450mm-wide operating head features three rotating plates which move in the opposite direction to the main housing, so as to avoid uneven results. Various consumables are available to suit different surfaces. Also available is the larger and heavier Scan Combiflex 500, which has a 500mm-diameter grinding head. “We have already had the machines on trial with a specialist flooring equipment hirer, which has been very impressed by their performance,” states Steve McKenzie.
