Executive Hire Show Preview:

All systems go

As the countdown to the inaugural Executive Hire Show begins, we give an early preview of major new product launches and initiatives planned for the big event.

Earlier this year, the Executive Hire Show organisers held a series of Regional Focus Groups throughout the country to consult directly with hirers and gauge exactly what they expect from a quality hire industry exhibition. Many of those attending said that new product launches and a pro-active response from suppliers were major inducements to visit, as well as other elements such as genuine ‘Show-only’ special deals and practical, hands-on demonstrations. Judging from information that EHN has already received from exhibitors, many companies are acting positively and will not disappoint.

The Hire Supply Company (Stand A40) will unveil an array of new products. HSC, which has branches in Nottingham and London, will showcase a new energy-saving festoon lighting kit, a 5m four-lamp mast light, the Powerman site electrical lighting range seen as an ideal opportunity for hirers to offer for sale, and a 5Kva lightweight transformer. Also new is an electronic, portable remote fire point for on-site protection and with a range of 1000m. HSC will also display its Elite Heat range, E-Lite high-efficiency site lighting, Levpano board lifters, Barreto rotavators and trenchers and the Compac post hole borer.

“A fantastic showcase”

“The Executive Hire Show is a fantastic platform for us to showcase our catalogue of equipment. It will give us the opportunity to meet with existing and potential new customers and demonstrate our products in a friendly and informal setting,” comments Managing Director Gary McWilliam. “We have been working hard to promote the show via information on our catalogue, direct mail leaflets,
on-line through our website and, of course, by word of mouth. We will be offering genuine special offers to visitors, only available during the two days of the Show. We will also officially unveil a new website initiative at the exhibition. It will enable our customers to order on-line 24 hours a day.”

Makita (Stand E52) will use the Executive Hire Show as a springboard for its annual launch of new products, many of which address HAV risk reduction. Makita’s Advanced Vibration Technology (AVT) is derived from the science of earthquake engineering and aims to dampen the mechanical vibration created by the piston action in breakers, hammer drills and reciprocating saws. The first three AVT products already available on the market are the HM1810 AVT 30kg breaker, the HR4011C AVT 6kg demolition hammer and the JR3070CT AVT reciprocating saw. The new GA7040S and GA9040S angle grinders, featuring soft start, also benefit from an AVT side grip and rear handle and will be displayed for the first time at the Show. “We are looking forward to exhibiting, in the knowledge that we will target exactly the right level of executives in the hire industry, their employees and their customers – all under one roof,” states Andrew Helby, Marketing Manager of Makita UK.

Diamond tool specialist DTAS (Stand A72) states that, in a major launch programme developed specially for the Executive Hire Show, it will be introducing new diamond drills and super-thin blades for very hard tiles plus dual and multi-purpose diamond blades for cutting concrete, asphalt, metal and stone. All are manufactured to the EN13236 standard and are said to offer advantages such as longer life, faster cutting and better clearance of debris. New merchandising units to aid professional presentation will be available, plus DTAS’ economy Duro Site blade range for use on general building materials.

Interactive displays

Also working hard in advance of the Show is Birchwood Products (Stand D90). The company promises interactive displays and demonstrations, plus a dedicated ‘chat zone’ and a selection of branded promotional items offered via some entertaining competitions. Birchwood says the results of an intensive 18-month research and development programme will finally be unveiled at the Executive Hire Show with the launch of several new products. Of particular note is the company’s first foray into low-level access. According to Birchwood, a £500,000 deal has already been struck with a major UK hirer for products in its new access range and, whilst the company remains fairly guarded about specifics at this stage, it looks likely to arouse considerable interest.

The Birchwood offering will include the recently updated Defender Power & Light range, plus six new products in its Evolution range, to be rolled out next year. These include the Spider Ball splitter box, which features visual ‘power on’ indicators and recessed sockets. Other new Evolution products are the Uplight v2 self-righting site light and Power Pod power tool transformers.

Planning a lively stand presence is software specialist inspHire (Stand D20), which will be offering inspHire Express, designed for the single-site hire business, at a significantly lower than usual Show-only promotional rate. The company will also run a time trial competition for motor racing enthusiasts among the visitors, with prizes for the winners. inspHire will give practical demonstrations of its other hire management solutions, including Office Edition for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and Corporate Edition for larger, multi-depot businesses. The latter now offers a Resource Planner module aimed at hire companies allocating non-hire related or non-chargeable resources to jobs. In addition, inspHire will promote Smart View, described as an advanced analysis tool, which is also available with the Corporate Edition.

Freeze Master (Stand D92), a manufacturer of electric pipe freezing machines, will introduce the Solder-Master, a flameless soldering device designed for safe use in confined spaces. It is said to be clean and easy to operate, preventing damage to walls, décor or furniture, and has been designed for use with standard or pre-soldered fittings and pipe sizes. It weighs 560g and plugs into a standard 230/240V supply.

Imer Direct (Stand C50) will launch its Combi 250/1000 tile saw, to complement its full range of professional cutting equipment for the hire industry. The saw’s plunge action, along with a 45¾ cut, is said to allow professionals to cut even the largest tiles accurately.

Imer will also introduce the Koine range of machines for dry pre-mixed spraying and pumping of plaster, cement and insulation materials up to a distance of 50m. These products extend Imer’s range of pumping and spraying equipment, which includes the Silent 3000 and Mover 270 for large industrial floor screed contracts.

New low-level access launches

Turner Access (Stand C40) promises to launch two new products at the Show, which will be displayed along with the Deltadeck low-level access unit. It is reported to be proving popular in a wide range of industries, including specialist markets such as aviation and offshore engineering. Configured as a single unit and designed for quick assembly, it has a safe working load of 200kg, five working heights and is fully guard-railed. Another access equipment specialist, Youngman (Stand B40) plans to launch no less than seven products and services at the Show.

Wacker will have two stands at the Show (Stands C84 and D80). One will be devoted to products designed to specifically address the issue of HAV, including an innovative remote-control machine and a new breaker. Equipment from the company’s other product ranges will be shown on the second stand. MD Andrew Howells tells EHN he is “very enthusiastic about the Show, and Wacker has signed up to it for the long term."

As we go to press, more than half the exhibitors at the Executive Hire Show report that they will have new products and services to unveil, including Arc-Gen, Belle, Brendon, Camon, DeWalt, Diamondmasters, Digbits, Dronco, Euro Towers, MCS, GenSet, Hilta, Hilti, Husqvarna, JCB, MBW, Marcrist, Metabo, Probilt, SDMO Energy, Seddons, Stephill, Takeuchi, Terex, Tornado Fixings and Young Black, amongst many others. EHN will provide a complete editorial preview in our January issue, giving even more reasons why your presence at our industry’s only dedicated exhibition is essential.
