Sound
advice
from
Oi-Noise
The
new
Control
of
Noise
at
Work
Regulations
suggest
tests
employers
can
use
to
estimate
whether
workers
are
at
risk.
HSE
guidance
suggests
that
if
conversation
at
2m
is
not
possible,
then
the
noise
level
is
probably
greater
than
80dB,
the
threshold
at
which
damage
to
hearing
can
start.
The
key
ring
sized
Oi,
from
Oi-Noise
Ltd,
is
a
simple
device
for
quick
assessment
of
workplace
noise
hazards.
It
emits
80dB
at
the
push
of
a
button,
and
if
the
sound
cannot
be
heard
at
2m,
employers
know
they
need
to
take
appropriate
measures.
