Satellite saves space

Satellite Industries launched several new products at the recent PSE Expo. The Maxim Lightweight 3000 toilet weighs only 87kg but is designed to be robust enough for use at construction sites. Smooth internal walls facilitate cleaning and several colour options are available.

Weighing even less, the 77kg Synergy Taurus is targeted at the events industry. An avoidance of side overhang means that units can be placed immediately alongside one another to form a continuous line with no wastage of space.

A new service tank range, the VCX series, is available in capacities of 1200 litres, 1600 litres and 2000 litres. Each is powered by a Honda engine and is mounted on a robust steel chassis. A large water tank is fitted at the side of the unit.

Shorelink reaches its Zenith

Shorelink International’s new Meridian Zenith toilet has a 280-litre tank capacity and is designed principally as a freshwater flushing model. However, with the addition of a two-way valve it can be adapted for use as a standard recirculating toilet.

Shorelink, which also manufactures 7.5kW shower cubicles and suburban mains toilet units, has a Madrid-based business, Shorelink Espana, which is developing strongly, according to Managing Director, Tony Payne. “There are approximately 70,000 portable toilets in the UK, which has a population of 60m. When you consider that Spain’s population is 40m but there are only 8,000 toilets in the country, the potential market is enormous.” In a further development, depots have been opened in Pretoria, South Africa, and Nelson, New Zealand.

GenQuip’s mobile welfare solution

GenQuip’s Groundhog is a mobile welfare unit that is designed to enable contractors to meet certain on-site Health & Safety requirements. The product has toilet and washing facilities, drinking water, areas for changing and drying clothes, and a place for resting and eating.

The Groundhog 360 can be towed to site by a Transit-type vehicle. The undercarriage fully retracts when in position for security. Power comes from a petrol, diesel or LPG engine, and start and stop controls are located inside the cabin for simple operation. Options include secure docking ports, a lighting mast, electric hydraulic power pack and an auxiliary power take-off socket. The 360 can accommodate six people, while a larger 500 version is big enough for ten.

Thal launches new shower

Thal UK has introduced the Mondo shower cabin, which has a 3.5kW water heater to provide instant hot water. Powered by a 220V supply, it can be plugged into any standard household electrical socket and produces water at a temperature of approximately 35°C for a period of between 30 seconds and two minutes. Thal sees hire potential for the product in many markets, such as at events, beaches and even fruit picking sites.

New also is the Matterhorn, a wheelchair accessible toilet cabin with an extended bench deck to allow easy transfer from wheelchair to seat. Stainless steel handrails are incorporated, and dual exterior grab handles facilitate loading and handling on the customer’s site.

Demons for cleaning

Demon International reports that models from its pressure washer range are popular with hirers operating in the portable sanitation industry. The Hurricane P2 is small enough to be taken on board service vehicles and then used on site. The machine has a Honda petrol engine giving a flow rate of 13 litres/minute.

The Tempest, one of Demon’s most popular models, is designed to handle demanding cleaning tasks. The machine is popular for washing down hire yards and vehicles on return to base. Steel lids are fitted for durability, and they are easily removed for servicing.

Buckinghams’ lightweight contender

Buckinghams of Kenilworth Ltd has launched the Buckaloo 3400 portable toilet servicing tanker, which is mounted on a non-HGV Isuzu NQR 7.5 ton gross vehicle weight chassis. Its specification was developed in co-operation with Brandon Tool Hire, which has operated Buckinghams’ vehicles for five years.

The Isuzu chassis is said to be lighter than many others in its class, and this increases the carrying capacity. The tanker is split, being able to hold 2500 litres of sludge and 900 litres of water. The exhauster pump is PTO-driven and fresh water is pumped via a retractor reel and nozzles.

On schedule with Higher Concept

Higher Concept’s Syrinx software is used by toilet hirers throughout the country, including Site Equip in Surrey, Universal Site Services in Merseyside, MT Loos in Buckinghamshire and Mercian Masterplan in Shropshire. Different service schedules can be set for various site equipment, such as toilets, water tanks and showers, which can be easily overridden when required. Optimum service routes can be calculated, with the necessary paperwork being generated for drivers. By default this shows all items on a site, even if their required service date has not been reached, allowing the operator to include them and avoid a repeat visit.

Go green with Garic

The Solar-Loo from Garic Ltd utilises two renewable energy sources, namely wind and solar power, to provide electricity for the welfare unit. The unit has a urinal and a conventional flushing toilet, together with hot and cold water facilities, a washbasin, a dryer and a heater.

Sebach’s robust future

Sebach’s new Starlight recirculating toilet is designed for robustness and durability, with features such as hidden internal rivets, strengthened corners for manual handling and stronger door hinges. Secure anchor points and crane lifting eyes are also incorporated. Owing to various manufacturing improvements, the new model costs less than its predecessor, says the company.

Also new is a competitive price structure for Sebach vacuum modules, which are designed for fast and efficient operation.

Following a successful management buy-out, Sebach is now a standalone operation. It formerly operated under the luxury toilet hire and manufacturing company, Convenience Services. MD Richard Crawford now intends to grow Sebach’s market share.
